Overview:
GEMS (Girls Empowerment Movement & Support) Summer Camp is a 1-2 week summer camp experience for girls going into 6th-8th grade that intentionally blends movement, mindfulness, creativity, personal reflection, and conversation with peers around meaningful life themes.
We are creating a holistic mind-and-body experience in an uplifting environment for girls to move their bodies in a variety of ways, build internal confidence, strengthen their life/relationship skills, and feel more connected to both themselves and each other.
Each day, girls will explore an uplifting theme in the areas of self-love, positive self-talk, emotions, inner confidence, friendship, body image, healthy communication, and mindful tech habits. Through journaling, group discussion, 1:1 connection, games, and hands-on creativity, girls will have space to reflect on these important parts of their lives in a way that feels supportive, engaging and most importantly, meets them where they’re at.
We’ll begin each day with a fun group game and then flow into an intro into the theme, personal reflection/journaling, as well as 1:1 discussion to naturally open up their thoughts and help them share their perspectives about that theme.
An hour each day will be devoted to our daily movement as we cycle through functional fitness, Pilates, yoga, stretching, mobility, and outdoor workouts.
Each afternoon will wrap up with mindfulness, snack time, and a hands on creative project.
Our intention is to support girls in feeling strong, capable, connected, and confident. We want to create an environment that naturally helps girls open up about these topics and also equips them with guidance, tools, and perspectives to help them navigate them with more ease in their day-to-day life.

A Few More Important Details:
Each day, you’ll drop your daughter off at 12:30 PM at La Colonia Park in Solana Beach and you’ll pick her up at 4:00 PM around the corner at Stratum Fitness!
On each Friday (July 17th and July 24th), we will meet at La Colonia Park for the entire day. We’ll take the girls through a fun outdoor workout, have a fun picnic with extra snacks, and have a special celebratory creative project each day — such as vision boarding, making homemade face masks, and sugar scrubs. These days will be uniquely special for the girls who join in for both weeks!
Total Cost: $350 for one week, $600 for both weeks
We have space for 10 girls (per week) for GEMS summer camp!

This GEMStrong camp will be taught by Shannon Keating, one of our GEMS Co-Founders, who is also a Life Coach for Girls and Fitness Coach with her CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Kids Certifications. Christina Gutman will be helping out behind-the-scenes! And we’ll have some high school girls and young women assisting throughout the week.

We are capping registration at 10 girls total each week to ensure that each girl gets individualized attention and fully enjoys this experience!

Our target age range is girls going into 6th-8th grade. However, if you have a daughter outside of this age range who wants to participate, please just let us know and we should be able to accommodate!

Each day will have a theme/focus that we explore through journaling, group discussion, 1:1 walking/talking, guided meditation, and creativity.

Yes! One of our biggest intentions is that this camp will be suitable for girls of all ranges of fitness - for all of the movement portions (the functional fitness workouts, pilates classes, yoga/stretch classes, and outdoor workouts) we can scale all movements down or up to cater to each girl so meet her unique needs that day!

The functional fitness movements we’ll be moving through include: squats, lunges, presses, bench presses, kettlebell swings, pull-up’s, ring rows, running, rowing, biking, burpees, step-up’s, sit-up’s, planks, bar hangs, and more!
An example of a workout is:
Part 1 - Strength + Core with partner -
5 sets of: Pull-Up’s, 10 Plank High Five Claps, and 10 Partner Sit-Up High Five Claps
Part 2 - Intervals as a group
5 rounds: 30 second on / 30 second off cycling through:
Slam Balls
Kettlebell Swings
Lunges
Skater Jumps
Part 3 - Cool Down + Stretching
